I'd bet $5 (US, although Canadian would save me some cash) that if you trashed the Apple Menu Options preferences file from /System Folder/Preferences that your problem would be fixed. This file gets corrupted more often than most prefs files and that's saying something, believe me. I've found that trashing Finder prefs helps sometimes too. Harmless.
