Hal, I "carbon-copy-cloned" both my OS 9.2.2 and my OS X 10.2.4 partitions from my Pismo onto two partitions of the ME-910U2F (combo USB2 & Firewire) enclosure, and successfully booted from both cloned partitions, in succession. I did this using the firewire connection. I have not tried it via the USB and anticipate that, even if possible, USB would not perform well owing to the Mac's slow USB (version 1.1) implementation.
However, for sure the firewire enclosure is bootable from a Pismo, if you have a suitable system on it. This is why I was so happy. That it works via USB is gravy. Furthermore, I found that plugging into a USB 2 port on a PC worked fine (when I had a PC-formatted disk inside the enclosure). Also, The Pismo easily and automatically mounted the volume upon connecting by either firewire or USB, no problem. I have not yet tried this enclosure by USB connection to an accelerated PowerMac 7200 system running MacOS 8.6, but will do so in a week's time (the 7200 has a USB PCI card also). All sales literature suggests that it will work. I will report my experience in due course. --Jim. Hal wrote: > Are these enclosures bootable on the Mac?
