Apple has a pretty good record of shipping a few days before their stated ship date, first off. OS X 10.0 started reaching people's mailboxes several days before the official release date of 03/24/2001, even though the AppleStore showed the 24th as the ship date all along for me (mine ARRIVED on the 23rd). My G4 Cube arrived THREE full days before the quoted ship day -- i ordered as his Steveness was walking off the stage. Apple has always been very cautious about ship dates. that said, this is exactly why i refuse to get riled up or ticked off about anything i read ANYWHERE on mac news and rumors sites. why? because too many people take these sites as gospel. some people post to pbcentral.com, and you suddenly assume that "damned few" people ordered ahead of you. what percentage of Apple's customers do you think read pbcentral? of THAT percentage, how many do you think post or submit articles? if your answer constitutes anything that would be construed as a statistically valid sample, you're deluding yourself. also, how many -resellers- do you think got in orders ahead of you? how many do you think each one ordered? one? two? try "as many as apple would let them order." my local mac reseller, for instance, is telling me that they're getting them in earlier than anything i've seen online, but that they're already sold out. -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
