people have had mixed success using Windows iPods on a Mac. iTunes 
tends to recognize that the device is, in fact, an iPod. but syncing up 
the iPod via iTunes is a mixed bag.

as for installing songs by Finder copy... dunno. on the mac, the Music 
folder is intentionally hidden.
