It is my understanding that the 2 USB ports on the iBook 700 (16 VRAM) share the same USB controller, instead of independent controllers as with the G4 towers. Is this true?
The reason I ask is that in my ongoing search for a better sound setup, I have been considering the M-audio external sound card (Sonica Theatre) in combination with some S/PDIF speakers from Cambridge SoundWorks (any recommendations?). I am afraid that if the USB controller is shared, however, that I will get interference in my sound (mainly classical music) from competition on the controller with my other USB devices (external keyboard/mouse, printer, digital camera). Has anyone out there used an external audio card like the M-audio or Griffen PowerWave with the iBook? Or, has anyone out there used USB speakers and experienced problems with other USB devices on the same controller? Thanks for any and all advice. --Chris iBook 700 OS X.2.4 PM 7500/200 OS 9.1 PM 4400/200 OS 8.6, NetBSD -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
