1) I have had no problems whatsoever with X on my 300mhz wallstreet save for the first kernel panic after I chose and installed on the partition that just leaked over the 8gb X install partition limit in my 8gb hard drive where there are two equal sized permissions the second of which, evidently leaks over 8gb.
2) I have 384mb of ram which runs the machine and applications therein (as well as X) comfortably, albeit with some of the aforementioned (in previous posts) graphics slowness.
3) Sometimes it bogs down and gets a tad choppy when opening an application or two at the same time and say sorting e-mail or changing the message currently viewed in mail.
4) My screen hinge is loose with about 3/4" - 1" of play at the top but it stays in place and has not given me any problems at all.
5) All my legacy ports seem to work in X and I have used an external SCSI drive quite frequently.
6) My VST floppy / superdisk drive works fine in X, especially when you are in a classic application of course but works in X nonetheless and it's even better since I got it during some 50% off sale that VST had a while back on certain products.

-Check the LEM site for last week's 'book review as it has info on a cardbus video card with 32mb of ram and DVI out and better yet a supposed $99 (listed on the 'book review) or $249 (in the vtbookdd faq page) price tag. I was surprised when I saw it in the 'book review as I had known about it since October from the company's website: http://www.vtbookdd.com/
-If it matters to anybody, I first installed X.1 and then upgraded to X.1.3, X.1.4, X.1.5, X.2, X.2.1, X.2.3, and now X.2.4
-I might be looking at one of those processor upgrades soon but it is noted that the internal video is still sub-par by current standards.

In total, I really do not believe that the wallstreet (or PDQ as the series II is called) really deserves all of the criticism that is has been receiving as it really is a good entry level machine, and BTW, I do not play any games other than snood and even so, if I wanted to, I would use my B+W G3 for it as I intend to with SimCity 4. Perhaps I just have a well running machine or an isolated really lucky incident (or machine) but in my opinion, the wallstreet is a very capable machine, at least the 292 and 300mhz models when X comes into the question.
