Just got a ViewSonic VE500 yesterday (15" LCD) and it looks great so far. I am using it as a second monitor for a Pismo 400 Mhz running OS 9.1. I can highly recommend this LCD (after one day of use). You will be amazed at the brightness and color of the screen (right now I have it set to about 50% brightness). Haven't booted in OS X yet, but I can't imagine any problems. Once I have more time I'll take a look at it in OS X. You won't need DVI for use on the Pismo, but if you get it in addition to VGA you could use it on a newer machine, too.
