Could anyone using a 17" Powerbook comment what they like and don't like
about it. Defects? Problems? Prices have come down C$600 on the 17", sooo
I'm thinking about getting one. Using a Pismo 500/1Gig/40Gig now.

Likes: Screen size. Screen size. Screen size. Speed. Thinness. Weight. Cool sleep LED. Battery life (3.5 hours of use surfing the net with wireless running). Airport range (1/2 block from my AP when walking down the sidewalk) Oooh factor.

Dislikes:
Case is a bit slick when carrying just the laptop itself
No firewire 800 ->  400 adapter shipped.
Both firewire ports on the same side
No USB 2.0
Superdrive only burns at 1x when burning DVD-R

I'm a recent switcher (in March when I received the 17" PowerBook) and I've been using it as my primary machine since then. I bought a desktop dual 500 G4 to compliment the powerbook and to use as a home file/email server.
The other intel PCs in my house run Linux.

i have had no defects with mine other than the fact that the mouse button seems to not quite sit even, but that's minor. Fit and finish on my unit was excellent, and the screen had no bad pixels.

Hope this helps.

Steve
