You could check this outfit out, < http://www.gpsy.com/ > they just finally got to a version that runs in OS X. I have been using their OS 9 version along with DeLorme's Street Atlas (OS 9) version. I use a Garmin eTrex GPS unit tied via a serial/USB adaptor to my Pismo. It all actually runs in Classic without a problem. I haven't tried the OS X version yet but will probably try it out sometime this summer. You can also sync it up with topos downloaded from various sites. The most complicated part of getting things to work was getting the serial to USB converter to port the GPS unit's data into the computer. The other pain in the butt is that DeLorme doesn't plan on supporting their Map Application in OS X so I will probably have to look elsewhere.
