Your answers are: Yes and No.

X is too complicated for that. I would recommend (if you have an extra HDD) 
is downloading CCC and backing up your drive to it (if it is the right size) 
and then installing. The biggest problem you will have is permissions, 
missing kexts and other extensions and items.

BTW, I have a 30GB drive that is nearly full (well had I guess) and I blast 
the drive away every 3-6 months and reinstall X. Just a habit from my days in 
9.
