had same problem recently - same click of death. i'm now back to my old reliable pismo.

anyone knows of a good drive replacement for the tibook (60-80G)?

Since I was in a rush and on a small budget I got a 20GB Hitachi (used to be IBM Hard Drive). It's good, quiet and nice (for a 4200).

My local place has the 80GB for $400 but I am sure you can find it cheaper on the net somewhere.
