I know this is a common problem but I don't know if this fix is well known. My Wallstreet (OS 10.2.6) started not lighting the screen after waking from sleep and restart. After looking around I found a suggestion of booting into OS 9, sleeping it, waking it and switching back to OS X. I tried this and it worked.

It started having problems after the battery popped loose when it was asleep.

I had some problems setting the start up disk in OS 9 but I think that was another problem (I ended up having to update the disk driver and run DFA on the boot disk).

Anyways I figured I'd post this as from my reading the problem is common but I didn't find the solution until after a lot of digging.
