hi, i read the thread started by ryan and i'm still having trouble encrypting my airport card. i have a similar SMC wireless router and both pc and ibook laptops. my airport software is version 2.1.1 and my question is:
can i use a simple passphrase? what i mean is, on the pulldown menue of the airport icon, i can select password (in addition to 40-bit hex, 40-bit ASCII, 128-bi hex, 128-bit ASCII). however, when i type in the "passphrase" it tells me the password is incorrect. i tried using a $ sign but that didn't seem to work either. someone said they had both PCs and mac's set-up with WEP - any advice?? i prefer using a passphrase/password because when friends come over they can easily get onto the network rather than using a hex. am i wrong? many thanks for any advice, v.y. -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
