Not really. The YDL release cycle not as frequent - at least the major
releases. You can get updated versions of the packages when they become
available using yum that loads them from the network and installs them. I
ran yum right after install from the original CDs and it took severa minutes
to load and update the system (I do not know how long because I went to
bed).

I doubt that Apple would do this in next few years as Hamlin outlined in his
response.

Well I guess that is what Apple wants everyone to belive. As much as I like
OS X it does not offer the same performance as YDL on the same machine
although I use it as my primary system due to few applications I need there.
