My iBook also must be three-finger restarted if allowed to go from screen saver to sleep on its own. I've increased the time until sleep to prevent this from occurring. I don't leave the machine for long periods of time without putting it to sleep usually, but I had it set quite short until. I presented this issue to this site some time ago, but it wasn't addressed.
