Even if this iBook had a bad motherboard, you got a steal. Either way, sounds like the Ion battery (Apple M7426 Li-Ion Battery Clamshell iBook) is dead. You can find them used on eBay for about $70+. These will hold about a 5 hour charge. I am using one now that I bought on eBay. New ones will cost about $140.
The iBook does not have a PRAM battery. I have taken so many of these apart. It is not that difficult. I can send you the PDF files that illustrate how to do it.
