I would definitely go with the G3/900 unless you have a specific need for
the AltiVec unit of the G4. From what I understand, MHz for MHz, the G4 is
about the same speed as the G3 processor, except for AltiVec operations.

Unless you use a ton of AltiVec-accelerated software, the G3/900 would be a
much better option and value.
