Following a OSX Mail freeze-up and forced re-boot, my 333 Lombard (40 GB, 384 MB RAM) refuses to boot onto OSX (installed in a 8 GB partition). Following the grey screen with the apple and rotating cursor, I only get a blue screen, occasionally flashing lighetr blue.
It boots fine OS 9.2.2 off the other partition. I've tried repairing the X partition to no avail. Disk First Aid (8.5.2 off the OS 8.6 CD) logs: Mountcheck found minor errors Volume Bitmap needs minor repair,4,0 Volume Header needs minor repair,4,0 Then goes on claiming the disk was succesfully repaired. However, running it again, it reports the same errors and repairs... and so on... Disk First Aid (8.6.1 from OS 9) claims Invalid BTree node size,3,0 and cannot repair it. Norton Disk Doctor 6.0.3 reports no problems. Disk Warrior D2.1.1 reports problems and claims to have repaired them Runnign it again, it again reports the problems and claims to have repaired them. MacCheck reports Invalid extent entry, 3, 16619358 (in BTree) and claims that Disk First Aid cannot repair the problem. Prior to this (still following the crash) only Disk First Aid 8.5.2 and MacCheck would report errors. Following some repairs by 8.5.2, the situation is as described above. Any idea on how to proceed to try and avoid wiping the partition and reinstall X? By the way X Mail has frozen up on me (rotating multi-colour cursor going on forever) quite a few times.
