Concerning the boot into OS9 issue, I believe that all new Macs starting with the last G4 Towers, 800 & 900 ibooks, and the current Powerbooks will not allow booting into OS9.
I seem to remember seeing this issue awhile back, can anyone verify this for Laurence (and for me, as I also need to boot into OS9 on occasion until all the software is upgraded to native X).
