I think iDVD requires a G4 processor.
The exp. bay DVD burner would be great for data DVD backups; plus, it offers
very high CD burning speeds (at least compared to, say, MCE's combo for
Pismos, which burns at 8x). The Pioneer I mentioned previously burns DVD-R
an DVD-RW at 2x, and burns CDs at 16x (CDRW at 8x, IIRC). A nice all around
drive for $290-ish.
Anyone who needs to burn authored DVD content (as with iDVD) needs a G4, so
you might want to think twice about the economics before spending close to
$600 for the two upgrades to your Pismo. i.e., your used Pismo might fetch
$900-ish, so 900 + 600 = 1500, which will get you a good way towards a G4
with a Superdrive.
