Hey all

I need help.. I'm trying to go wireless in my home but can't find
anything about going wireless with my wallstreet? Which PCMCIA card is
best to use? And which Cable router would you recommend?

I definitely gotta go with the ORiNOCO Silver card. There are lots of people who swear by WEP (and lots who sear AT WEP), but WEP's broken. Any kiddy with the right software can break into your 128-bit WEP "protected" network fairly easily. So don't bother spending the extra cash on a 128-bit card, and stick with the ORiNOCO Silver (or WaveLAN Silver, etc) line of cards. They're cheap, solid, reliable, and work well with the AirPort drivers. Plus then under OS 9 you can run (*Shameless Plug*) ClassicStumbler. I'm also rather partial to the IOXperts drivers in OS X.

FWIW, I've been using WaveLAN silvers for nearly 3.5 years, and they've worked great on everything from a 5300cs to my Pismo 500.

As for base stations, they more or less all the same - except that some route actual AppleTalk packets and some don't. Linksys gear doesn't (of course, AppleTalk over TCP/IP still works). Apple's AirPort does. I'd suggest you find a manufacturer that supports Macs at least somewhere in their product line (unlike Linksys), so that you can encourage further Mac OS compatible device development. That being said, I use a Linksys 4 port cable/DSL/wireless "router" without any trouble.

Peace,
Drew
