I'm not aware of DVD play problems with any particular DVD mechanism in a
Lombard under classic MacOS. Just now I popped an M7931/SR-8174-c into a
Lombard 400 (OS 9.2.1 & Player 1.3) and DVD play works fine (as expected.)
FWIW, I've got tons of EBMs* for Lombard/Pismo and have yet to come
across any that don't work in both models. I'd say any EBM that fits will
work, excepting of course any lack of particular device support under OSX
(eg: Lombard's lack of DVD play.)
*SuperDisk/floppy, ZIP, HD, plus opticals of various
brands/types/models
including CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, combo DVD/CDRW, DVD-R/W.
(More? I can't think of any other EBM types just now.)
