Definitely not silly, it's a good idea. But I thought I'd add my personal experience with a PowerBook stand, the iCurve in my case, which I found effective for increasing air circulation. Here in fire-ravaged Kelowna over the summer, temperatures in my office reached +100 for weeks. As long as my Pismo was on the stand, it was fine, fan came on once in a while. If I set the Pismo down on a flat surface, the fan came on after a few minutes of use. As well, the stands have the added benefit of raising the screen to eye level.
