M$ has already removed Linux, *BSD, Netware, and Solaris from the list of supported guest OSes.

They are gone from the LIST. That doesn't necessarily mean that you can't install them or that they won't work. The text in the dialog box clearly states that if your OS is not on the list, to choose the word OTHER.
