So in the end it makes them sound to be complaining that Apple doesn't make a lowend enough Mac. And yet, if you keep talking to them they will criticize Apple for not including 10 PCI slots, two highend AGP video cards, 1TB of hard drive space, and 4GB of RAM, with a 5GHz G4 in that "lowend" system they are looking for.
In fact, visit http://www.macobserver.com and look up their "Shootouts." There is a guy who has done all the leg work for you, he finds the cheapest PC system with the same features from 3-5 PC manufacturers and compares em to Apple's offerings. He doesn't endorse any of them and the Mac doesn't always win. But do look at the results they tell a different tale than "Macs are more expensive ..."

And for the "Apple should lower their prices" argument (sorry, I don't have a snippet for that), I have a few things to say. While Apple's prices are quite a bit more expensive than PCs
Actually, they aren't.
Configure *similar* systems (particularly laptops) from other top-tier manufacturers (Dell, Gateway, Compaq, etc), and you will find that they're all very close to or even more expensive than Apple.
Desktop systems can be cheaper, but, don't go trying to price a 64-bit Dell or HP any time soon, since you'll get sticker shock.
Yes, you can buy an el-cheapo system from the Lucky Dragon Computer and Fortune Cookie Factory for $7.95, but these aren't who Apple is competing with.
For crying out loud, Apple sells sub-$800 systems, sub-$1000 laptops and people (the vast majority of whom haven't priced a Mac in a decade or so) still put out that old canard that Apple is so much more expensive.
