Now that we may be returning to computers again, I have wanted to thank the list for a long time for the feedback on various problems I have posted. The knowledge pool here is vast and given so unselfishly. I don't need my techs to be gentle, I prefer clear.

Having almost recovered from purchasing a 900 mhz iBook within weeks of the G4 version (whimper), I have two persisting problems that I would like some input on, if you could.

Moving from the Wallstreet with 9.2.2 to the iBook with OSX has gone surprisingly well. OSX is almost bizarrely stable. I hardly resent the degree to which we were pressured into OSX at all.

However, I have 2 dangling problems (that doesn't sound quite right). First, Appleworks is incredibly slow. I seem to get both OS9 and OSX cursors when I do anything. Is there a trick to picking up the pace on this thing?

Second, even though I have energy saver set to maximum everything for running off the battery, Microsoft Word's autocorrect and various other functions slow down as soon as I unplug the computer. Any ideas?

I am running OS 10.2.8.

Thanks again for this resource.

John
