I periodically have a problem with kernel panics when I pick my 12" pb by the left front. Turns out that, over time and with the jostling that comes of carry it everywhere, the Airport card comes every so slightly unseated. It's not enough to interfere with the Airport functions but it causes the panics. So, I take the card out, put it back and then everything is fine for several months.
