Turntables need frequency equalization. An amplifier with a phono preamplifier in it will do it. Or download the software made for the iMic (the name escapes me) which will do the proper equalization through the software. You may also not have enough volume just plugging the phono in without a preamp. I still have the old amplifier from 25 years ago that I use when putting old records onto CD's. I use Amadeus II to do the recording. Of the 4 programs I've tried (Sound Studio, Peak LE, SparkMe, and Amadeus) I liked Amadeus the best, and the shareware fee was very reasonable.

I've also been recording my LP's to digital. I started with a Lombard, now I use my TiBook with a Griffin iMic attatched to the USB (no mic input on this model).

So with the iMic I can just hook up my turntable to the iMic and record an LP onto my disk? Sounds too easy. Can you give me some more info? This is something I have really wanted to do but thought I needed expensive equipment. Or if my computer has a microphone input (my Pismo does) I can plug it right in there? Appreciate any advice.
