Hi folks,

I just installed Panther on my TiBook, and now the menu bar is
screwed up.
The menus on the left side are fine, but all the little app icons on
the
right side (airport, clock, volume, etc) are now gone! They flicker on
occasionally for a second, but are completely unuseable. I installed
the
recent Panther update, no change.

Did you install or had installed if you did an update, any non-Apple utility that is displaying something in the menu bar?

Well, I have a similar problem after an Archive/Install. They flicker (they are still there, but the graphics are messed up).

Then, did you have under Panther and do you still have 3rd party menu items?
One thing I did on my PowerBook was to create a dummy account. Whenever I
start experiencing a strange behavior in my account, I login into the dummy
account that I didn't modify since it has been created. Then, if the problem
doesn't occur, then this is something I did install in my account.

I tend to stay away from the haxies other than themes, simply because I usually don't need em, and unless they use APE, are a risk I don't feel like taking for a feature I never used when it was available under OS 9.

This effect was without any additional software under 10.3, and now under 10.3.1, before I started adding my personal packages/etc that didn't just drag/drop into my Apps folder. My issue seems to be related to resolution switching, although it sometimes happens randomly on my Lombard when the screen is supposed to update. Odd, but not the end of the world.
