Another option might be to purchase the split USB/charging cable, which I am using 
with my Vaio and 3G iPod (sorry, work forces me to use it). It should cost about the 
same as a Firewire PC card (connection speed would be slower, but the iPod could 
charge at the same time - I don't know if this requires USB 1.1 0r 2.0, though). I 
think the 3G iPods should work with older (OS 9) iTunes versions, but only '4' gives 
you Audible (which is great for books on tape, etc.) - Anybody correct me please, if I 
am wrong anywhere. Just take the Lombard to an Apple store and try it all out, maybe?
