I will be getting a new HD for my Pismo 400 in the next couple of days, and I want to install both OS 9 and Jaguar. If I install OS 9 and then Jaguar, will Jaguar "update" OS 9 or will it load on the HD along with it?
The only 'updates' Jaguar adds is a couple of extensions for Classic use. It installs as an entirely separate OS alongside of 9.
I don't think I want to partition the drive although I haven't made
up my mind. I have read the ongoing discussion on the pros and cons, but am still uncertain about the whole thing. Thanks listers very much.
Jaguar and OS9 co-exist quite happily on the same partition.
ONe thing to consider is how much you boot into 9, still, and what your extension load is. If you boot into 9 a lot, and you have a large number of 3rd party extensions, I would definitely put in a separate p[artition for that OS 9 install.
Then install a stock Apple installation of OS9 on the OSX partition for use as the Classic System folder.
