Yes your correct, the most difficult part seems to be removing the clutch cover. This is covered in the inverter board take apart section. The manual says, after removal of appropriate parts to lift up until you can disengage the hooks at the back. Hmm sounds a little delicate. This is where I would get a bead of sweat on my forehead. I like the paper clip route. So how far do you lift up on the cover before you slide the paper clip in to disengage the clips. Do you go high enough to where you can see these clips or just go by feel. In the manual the photo implies I could lift this cover to about 45 degrees and this should disengage the clips. I think this might be a little dangerous on plastic. Thanks for the help Geoff
I don't lift up at all, I tug the cover towards the front (trackpad) of the machine. The paper clip fits under the cover when the processor heatsink is removed. Then, it's a rather firm yank required. You'll feel them disengage, and then you can tilt it up the 45 degrees and lift it out. After the clips are loose, the cover will still be held in by the screen housing but that's very little pressure.
If you could lift the cover as far as your manual says, the clips would already be disengaged!
And if you bust it let me know, I think I have a spare.
