flashing question mark

Have a Lombard 333 My disk drive is out being changed into a DVD. 
Tonight i removed the powerbook from its dock and the cursor 
froze...when i rebooted, i got the question mark...
Tried zapping the pram but it didn't work with the keys i use on my 
imac... shouldn't it have still zapped? Anyway to get it up without 
the disk drive (i get it back this week)?
