Relentless complainant Robin Ash mentioned this tired old Apple-myth:

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! This was _NOT_ an issue with a production 
Macintosh, so _PLEASE_ stop using it as an example of Apple's lack of 
care for its customers. FYI, Apple's testing of pre-production units 
equipped with (the then new-tech) LiIon batteries revealed the 
possibility for said batteries to overheat and catch fire while being 
charged. _NO_ PB5300 LiIon batteries were shipped to customers, proving 
Apple's QA process at the time worked just fine. So _PLEASE_ just 
stop-stop-stop using this example!!! Now about that iBook LB recall . . .
