I''ve decided to stay with my Pismo for another year or so, I don't really like the look and feel of the 14 inch iBooks and can't afford a new 15-inch Powerbook. And with 1GB of memory, a faster, bigger disk and a G4/550 it should get me throughh the next two years, I hope. It''s durable, expandable and easy/cheap(?) to repair as opposed to newer models.

So I'm hoping Apple will get beyond plain, boring lines for their 'Books again and make them interesting to view - meanwhile, I'll fix up my Pismo, and maybe get another clean, used one (off eBay or elsewhere) and upgrade it as much as feasible and financially worthwhile.
