All enclosures created equal?

I'm still hunting for an enclosure and visited the many websites you  
recommended to me.  I see that I have a large selection of enlosures I  
can buy however, I'm afraid that they're not all created equal.  For  
example, I've noticed some have fans and others don't.  Is heat an  
issue with en external drive?  Some support two drives but it has only  
one controller but the DuoDock uses two controllers.  Remember, I plan  
to software RAID in the near future.  Any advice?  I am currently  
looking at the following enclosures...
