Just bought a replacement Wallstreet II (300) on eBay and it may be defective.

It has 128Mb RAM and is running OS 9.2.2

The PRAM battery is shot, no big surprise here. It will start from the battery (I have two known good ones bought new about one year ago) if it has had the date set while the batteries remain in place. What is a surprise is that it will NOT start from the battery (or batteries) if the battery has been removed for a time (and thus the dates / PRAM info. lost).

It does consistently start when plugged in (I have one of the updated, warranty Apple power adapters).

Even if the dates are all wrong, it should still start from the battery, shouldn't it?

I'm thinking that I may need to return this. I have a newish PRAM battery in another Wallstreet II/300 that just died but I don't want to open up the new one just to test this; if I did that, I'm sure that I could not return it.

Suggestions?
