I agree with Bruce's view on this. I have a G3/800 iBook and a G4/800 desktop Mac. The G4 is noticeably faster then the iBook, especially after upgrading to Panther.

Well, not exactly but that's a good approximation except:OSX also uses that part of the G4, and so an equivalent G4 will run OSX noticeably faster than an equivalent G3. It's not just Photoshop.
