Is the battery white, marked model:M6392 or more of a silver color? If it's silver, it's an older battery for the first generation iBooks and has probably gone bad. I had four like that and they were replaced under Apple's 1 year warranty (I have a Tangerine 300 and a Graphite 466SE). And the replacements were M6392 higher capacity for the later clamshell iBooks (extra runtime in first generation). I don't remember, but there may be a battery reset on Apple's website that you can try. If not, good luck with the guy.

I received it today and installed into a Tangerine iBook running OS 9.2.2 and No Charge. So I put into my Indigo iBook running OS X 10.2 8 and I get the Red X after about 60 seconds.
Is there a trick, a reset or a workaround before I get into a debate with this guy.
