Don't run too many apps at once. Try to logout/login on a regular basis so
that the swap files folder doesn't get too large preventing the system from
loading those files from the disk. Try to not install any third-party
extensions (like those from Unsanity). Although they might prove helpful,
they're adding code to every application that is launched, code that has to
be executed. You might want to check with TinkerTool to see if there is
anything you can disable.
