Subject: DVD burning in OS X

Hi, folks.

A while back I replaced the stock DVD drive in my Pismo with an LG
GCC-4240N. I got the burner update files from xlr8yourmac.com, and
replaced the authoring support files in OS 9, sans problem.
Unfortunately, I just updated to OS X, and have no idea how to do the
same thing. The OS X file is labeled LGCDR.device-plugin, but I don't
know where it goes. I tried putting it in the extensions folder, but it
doesn't seem to do anything. Profiler still says burning isn't
supported. Any advice from the pros?

In OSX 10.2 or lower you can edit the file, even using Text Edit. However, you need to be logged in as root to move the file back into the proper folder, from Terminal. You can also move the file by booting into OS9. In 10.3 Panther, you need to use Patchburn II, which will modify the file. Earlier versions of X can also use Patchburn (both found via xlr8yourmac links) to mod the file, too. Probably easier.
