I think I want to get the 15" powerbook with superdrive. It will be my main computer. I have used laptops before, and do not like the keyboards. Will a wireless keyboard and mouse work well with a powerbook, or should I plan to line in? Will
wireless need any additional stuff to work, such as cards or drivers?

If you are going to get one of the Aluminum PowerBook G4's, you can buy Apple's Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and then you won't have anything to worry about. The only downfalls are the fact that the mouse is a single button mouse, and they are currently both only available in white (the last time I looked). I'm using a Logitech MX 700 cordless mouse with my 17" PowerBook when I sit at my desk. It installed with no fuss at all, but it's not handy to take on the road since it has a base that's required to be attached to the USB bus in order to use the mouse.
