I got my powerbook today! Yeah! It's so pretty. I haven't taken a new Mac/Apple out of a box since my Centris 610 in 1993 (subsequent models were previously owned). Apple really does pay attention to the experience of owning a computer.

Question #1: Anyway. I ordered the wireless mouse and keyboard. They each came with what appears to be the same software, titled "Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Software". The keyboard's version is 1.1, and the mouse's version is 1.2, so I only installed the 1.2 version. The powerbook is able to "discover" the mouse, and it works, but it is unable to discover the keyboard. Actually, it seemed to discover it for a minute, giving me a 5-digit code to "write" on my keyboard. However, before I had a chance to do this, the screen switched to another one telling me my keyboard is not "discoverable." I've retraced the steps and it still doesn't work. I then tried to install the software that accompanied the keyboard, but when it got to the "Select a Destination" screen, it tells me that this software is already installed. The batteries are installed, the little switch is on, the little green light is glowing, and the keyboard is very close to the powerbook. Any suggestions?

Question #2: Does anyone use the space next to the trackpad on their powerbook as the "mousepad" area for their optical mouse? This seems so convenient. Will it scratch it over time?

Thanks,
Claire
