So which CDRW is recommended for a clamshell? I've got a Matshita/Panasonic UJ-815B in my Pismo now, and it works great. Thanks for any help.

Pretty much any CDRW will work, some will require modifying the support files in OS9 and/or OSX. The OS9 files can be changed with bbedit, OSX can be changed with the fine utility patchburn or patchburn II for Panther. The real issue is making the faceplate fit.
If the computer just sits on your desk, maybe it's not a big deal to have the drive exposed, I certainly wouldn't travel with it that way though. I did have one installed in a Lombard like that for a few months, although I eventually replaced it with the stock CD when I sold the computer.
