As per this list's suggestion, I reinstalled Panther on my new powerbook. Prior to this reinstallation, the name of my hard drive was changed (I think the cat walked across the keyboard at the wrong moment, naming my hard drive "j".) Anyway, I did a reformatting installation with the disk that came with the powerbook. When all was said and done, the hard drive's name is still "j".

Would that be an indication that it didn't do a clean install?

I really need some folks to respond to my posts. I'm going out of town Sunday morning and have quite a bit to do on this new powerbook to have it ready for my trip.

Thanks,
Claire
