It looks like you have the directories corrupted. It's a GREAT New that you can still boot. FIRST: Make a Backup of ALL your files, because I believe they will dissapear. Mac OS X sometimes have problems with Directories. You can try to fix them with Norton System Works, but it's late to fix some things (I hope, I'm wrong). Norton has a great utility named FileSaver and it works making a BackUp of the Directories. If something is wrong, you can Boot from the CD and then restores the Directories as FileSaver makes a BackUp on every shutdown. I have FileSaver on OS 8.6 and fixes things on OS X. You can check for missing files with Norton, but there's no chance to fix everything. Excuse me for my english.
Anyway, I recommend to make a Backup, run Norton to find missing files (backup again), then erase the HD and reinstall everything (including Norton FileSaver). Good Luck. --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Basically, I lost all account settings, as well as > desktop files, document files, > photos in iphoto, the whole deal, and was wondering, > on a powerbook g4 (12 > inch DVI) what I can do to retreive it, I get errors > when I try to use disk utility, > and spent 80 bucks on disk warrior, only to have it > come up with an error > message as well when I try to repair the disk... > weird thing is, I can still log on > to the machine as administrator, but the files > seemed to have dissapeared. > this all occured after the system locked up (unusual > in and of itself....) any > thoughts? > > > -- > G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> > and... > > Small Dog Electronics http://www.smalldog.com | > Refurbished Drives | > -- Check our web site for refurbished PowerBooks | > & CDRWs on Sale! | > > Support Low End Mac > <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> > > G-Books list info: > <http://lowendmac.com/lists/g-books.html> > --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" > Send list messages to: > <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To unsubscribe, email: > <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > For digest mode, email: > <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subscription questions: > <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Archive: > <http://www.mail-archive.com/g-books%40mail.maclaunch.com/> > > > > --------------------------------------------------------------- > >The Think Different Store > http://www.ThinkDifferentStore.com > --------------------------------------------------------------- > > > __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
