Why am I seeing apple airport cards going for WAY more than the airport extreme cards online? Doesn't seem to make much sense.

Simple: Apple has officially announced that these cards are discontinued. Now with most computer parts that's not a big deal but when it comes to Airport, the only thing that Apple currently has available is the Extreme card, which means ALL Macs that were designed for the 802.11b card will be left out in the cold. So, demand has sky rocketed. Prices have jumped from an average of $65.00 to almost $120.00 for new models! Crazy, considering it was only $79.99 at the Apple Store just a few months ago. I've got one on bid right now for a friend of mine for $51.00. (fingers crossed) And NO. . .I'm not tellin' the item number! :)
