No way that I know of under 10.3.5. The fan activation temperature was first
lowered by the 10.3.2 update. There was a utility called Silent Night that
swapped the AppleADM103x.kext and AppleADT746x.kext files with the previous
versions that worked until the next Panther update broke it. Of course I'm
still not sure that reverting to earlier kernel extensions is a particularly
good idea. I'll go along with Apple's judgment that 12" PowerBooks were
running too hot and put up with a bit of extra noise in exchange for longer
component life.
