Short of looking on the Apple System Profiler/some other processor tell-tale app, the color would seem to be a good thing to go by... but not absolute. I had an tangy iBook that I sold a few days ago; I WAS going to give it to my sis, but she defected (!) to the Dark Side (w/ a really nice top-of-the-line P(ie)C(e) (of...) laptop from our daddy; oh well!)... But before she got it, she wanted me to make it Graphite on the outside. I have all the Graphite pieces, and the switch would not have been very hard. I am assuming your iBook does not boot at all?
