Hey Claire...
My Ti800 G4PB hasn't been ShutDown for a total of more than 3 weeks in over +2 years of constant use, and then only under certain circumstances of travel.
I DO ReBoot from ShutDown periodically; And run TTP4, DW and MacJanitor religiously.
But from OM JAGUAR Instal, thru present PANTHER 10.3.5, (not including yesterday's Security Update, (I let them 'marinate' a bit)), I've only ever had 2 problems. Occasional SYSTEM hick-Ups after an APPLE or VIREX UpDate. And a problem mounting DW's DISK. And ONLY their DISK, in nearly 3 years of moderate Drive use. I've gotten 2 from them. And both present the same, "Hanging-without-mounting, while Unable-to-Eject", problem.
And one, (for me cosmetic), ware-failure. 2 hair-line, pencil-wide-apart "stripes", top to bottom of the far right screen, that appeared in the first 2 weeks of use.
Other than that; This machine has operated like a Swiss-Jeweled charm. APPLE Solid, (Knock-on-Wood). Though, not an "ImageWriter II". . But then; Not many things in this life are.

While more often than not I leave my iMac on at night, I always turn off my Powerbook. I guess it just seems more vulnerable left on all night, for some reason. In fact, until recently, I'd carefully pack it and all of its "stuff" back in the softside briefcase I bought for it. Now I often leave it, turned off and with lid closed, where I used it last (on the couch, on the footstool, on the bed, by the iMac, on the dining table...). Do you guys turn off your PBs at night?
